Please Note: The holder of the permit shall send to the Authority (vessels over 10 metre) or Defra (vessels under 10 metre) a monthly return showing accurate information regarding the weight in kilograms of lobster, crab, velvet crab and whelk, taken from within the District during the preceding calendar month, together with information on the types and number of fishing gear employed and the area fished and any other information which the Authority regards as necessary.
Hobby Permit – Allows use of up 10 pots or 100 metres of net to fish or take not more than 2 lobsters and a combined total of 10 crab species and 30 whelks from the fishery, which must be landed on the same calendar day on which they were caught.
To allow a trawl net to be used to take fish and shellfish from the fishery. Conditions of permit - The overall length of the vessel from which trawling is carried out does not exceed 18.3 metres. The engine power of the vessel does not exceed 400 KW (536 HP). The trawl net is raised and cleared at least once in every three hours, during which trawling is carried out.
