Council tax - carers reduction
Council Tax bills are issued based on the assumption that there are two or more adults (persons aged 18 or over) living in a property. If only one adult lives in a property as their main home, then the council tax bill is reduced by 25%.
A discount may be applicable if a member of your household aged 18 years or over is providing care and support for someone else (but not a partner or child under 18) in the same household.
Where there is more than one carer living in the property, the most a bill can be reduced by is 50%.
